Calgary Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Calgary Beddington provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend about ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in reality various podiatry training programs are located within these schools. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained substantial health care education with an importance on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to treat difficulties ranging from general afflictions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical training which furnish them the experience vital to carry out surgery on those problems that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid many problems which the feet typically encounter.
